FAQs
Why is a CO2 Alarm needed?
- CO2 is used as ‘dispense gas’ for
beer and sodas
- OSHA classify CO2 as a toxic gas, it can, and does,
cause deaths, in amounts as little as 2%
- OSHA recommends first
warning alarm to be at 0.5%
- It is odorless, colorless and tasteless
so cannot be detected by humans
- Unless extracted from a space
with a suction pump, it can remain dangerous for years
I don’t
need one as my CO2 is stored outside
- Although the storage is external,
it would then be piped in to the building; most leakage is from
pipe joins/valves and badly made connections to beer kegs and post
mix units
Where should the Analox 50 be positioned?
- Because CO2 is heavier
than air, the Analox 50TM should be low down, no greater than
2 foot from floor level
- The Analox 50TM is purpose designed for
this application and will fix to
uneven walls, the Analox 50TM is also water resistant.
Is a special
electrical supply needed?
- No a standard domestic 110v AC socket
is all that is required, this should be within 2 foot of the
Analox 50TM.
How much maintenance is needed?
- The Analox 50TM is designed not to
need regular maintenance although we would recommend a ‘confidence
check’ every 2-3 years,
where CO2 is applied to the Analox 50TM to check alarms.
- Because Analox use a specific Infra Red sensor, this is non
consumable and will not require changing in normal use.
What type
of alarms does it have?
- As a standard the Analox 50TM has audio/visual
alarms. An audible sounder is
provided on the main sensor unit to warn staff in the gas
storage room, a
second is provided on the remote alarm repeater to warn
staff not to enter the
as storage room. In addition red alarm lights will flash
on both units.
- As an option we offer a remote alarm
repeater with a High Intensity LED
strobe visual alarm.
We move gas tanks and beer kegs around, how
vulnerable is the Analox 50TM?
- In high traffic areas we would
recommend fitting the stainless steel protector,
which should withstand most impacts
Occasionally we hose down
the area to clean it, will this affect the Analox 50TM
- The Analox
50TM is housed in a water resistant enclosure; in addition the
sensor can be fitted with a splashguard which will
reduce the likelihood of
water entering the sensor.
We have 2 doors in to our gas store
area; I notice the Analox 50TM only comes
with one remote alarm repeater.
- The Analox 50TM can be supplied
with up to 3 remote alarm repeaters.
