When Glacier Design Systems, Inc. received a phone call from a multi restaurant concept at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles – the project was in the middle of construction and the Tom’s Urban 24 location had arrived at a crucial decision;
How are we going to make our beer tower both functional and attractive?
The original plan was to utilize “cobra ice towers”, which are beer towers/taps that require excessive amounts of ice, throughout the restaurant. However, requiring excessive amounts of ice in Southern California can be a tricky endeavor. Upon further discussion with General Manager Aaron Garisek, the team decided on something more in line with their overall design look.
At the outset of the design process, Tom’s Urban owners thought they would only need a solution that could house up to 20 beers. Once the ideas and designs started flowing, they realized how a dramatic beer tower would make a real impression, both in design and variety. Therefore, Lead Glacier Designer Bob Jacobson began designing a unique Copper Pipe Tower with all sorts of possibilities. In the end, what wowed the client was a striking dual tower approach, one right behind the other, each with the capacity of dispensing up to 30 beers as well as a 20 faucet Copper Pipe Tower for the patio.
Benefits and Outcomes
Tom’s Urban was so pleased with our design and customer service that they hired us to create something for their new Denver location as well. And, the Tom’s Urban at LA Live is now open for business, featuring up to 60 beers for patrons to choose from.
“We worked with Glacier Design Systems, Inc. to reconfigure the existing structure in order to be financially responsible and customer centric at the same time. They demonstrated true commitment to this project, working through different tribulations that happen no matter what because it’s construction. Top to bottom, they are excellent, easy to work with, and we value the relationship look forward to more projects in the future.”
