Slater’s 50/50 San Marcos, CA (VIDEO)

When you have a combination sports bar and burger joint, the natural next step is a fantastic selection of beers. But in order to fill the bar with the best IPAs, Ambers, Pale Ales, Stouts, Porters and Ciders, one must decide how to accommodate a high number of taps in a limited space, often in difficult places. That’s where Glacier comes in.The Slater’s 50/50 in San Marcos needed a place to fit 102 taps. The challenge would come with their wish to keep them all behind the bar, which meant Glacier would need to deliver the faucets in a very tight environment built into a media wall. On top of that, Slater’s 50/50 didn’t want to settle for a regular, run-of-the-mill tap system. They needed something custom that would meet and exceed all their beer-related needs. And they knew Glacier would be the perfect company to achieve this.

After visiting the restaurant, Glacier designed four custom beer towers with 102 total faucets. With the go-ahead from Slater’s 50/50, Glacier installed the taps, each perfectly spaced down to the ¼ inch. They were made to have “C-Channels” built onto the towers so they could ultimately be covered in tile without hindering the taps. The towers were then hung from the ceiling using secure “All Threads” welded to both the tower and the brackets.

Glacier then moved to the walk-in cooler. But before installation, Glacier met with Steve Durler and Mark Schultz, the head honchos in charge of production and design, to plan out the design of the walk-in. This ensured a smooth installation and easy operation once the system was up and running.

Though everything functioned perfectly, a year after the installation, Slater’s decided to remove one of the four towers (and the 14 taps on it), as the size was hindering the view of some of the patrons. Glacier responded immediately and was ready to help with anything the restaurant needed.

Overall, Slater’s couldn’t be more pleased with Glacier’s work. Their tap system is one-of-a-kind, and they would not have been able to accomplish everything they wanted without the help of Glacier Design Systems!
